Live Stock Market Tips and Strategy


Today's Indian rupee
The Indian rupee gained past 66 a dollar in early trade following rally in global equity markets.
The currency appreciated by 20 paise to open at 65.94 per dollar against previous day's closing value of 66.14 a dollar.
Today's Stock market
  • The market has opened higher riding high on strong global cues.
  • The Sensex is up 392.57 points or 1.5 percent at 26107.23 and the Nifty is up 127.90 points or 1.6 percent at 7919.75. 
  • About 461 shares have advanced, 64 shares declined, and 14 shares are unchanged. 
  • ONGC, M&M, Bharti Airtel, Hindalco and Bajaj Auto are top gainers in the Sensex.
  • The Sensex zoomed to 26,170.39 in a flash, gaining over 450 points in the process, and is currently up 332.65 points or 1.29% at 26,047.31.
  • The Nifty is up 104.75 points or 1.34% at 7896.60.
  • All the sectoral indices are up in green, with realty, healthcare and oil indices posting strong gains.
  • The BSE benchmark Sensex is up 282.90 points or 1.1% at 25,997.56 now, after having zoomed to 26,170.39 earlier.
  • The Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange, which soared to 7930.80 in opening trades, gaining 139 points in the process, is currently up 74.40 points or 0.96% at 7866.25.
  • The 50-share Nifty index rose over 100 points to reclaim its crucial psychological level of 7900, supported by gains in FMCG, Pharma, IT, banks, realty and oil & gas stocks.
  • Bank Nifty surged over 250 points.Snapping its losses from the previous session, the rupee appreciated 29 paise to 65.86 against US dollar in trade today at the Interbank Foreign Exchange due to a decrease in dollar demand from importers.

Stock Market Closing News –Sensex slips, banks drag



The market extended its southward journey for the fifth consecutive session today. The Sensex lost 30.30 points to 28161.72 and the Nifty fell 7.95 points to 8542.95.
 Essar Power will commence mining at its Jharkhand coal block in next few months to help the company restart its Mahaan power plant, lying idle due to lack of fuel since last 18 months.
About 1111 shares have advanced, 1701 shares declined, and 182 shares are unchanged on the BSE. Banks pulled the market down again. HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and State Bank of India shed around a percent each. Tata Motors plunged 3.4 percent.

Stock Market Closing News



The market ended in red. The Sensex is down 117.03 points at 28883.11 and the Nifty slipped 32.85 points at 8723.70. About 1332 shares have advanced, 1573 shares declined, and 236 shares are unchanged. Axis Bank was down over 4 percent while BHEL, SBI, L&T and TCS were down 2-4 percent. On the gaining side were Hindalco, Tata Power, ONGC, Sesa Sterlite and Coal India.

Live Morning Stock Market News & Trading Tips



The market opened higher on Thursday following positive global cues. The 30-share BSE Sensex touched 29000 level for the first time, up 108.24 points at 28997.10 while the 50-share NSE Nifty hit 8750, up 19.50 points at 8749.
About 721 shares have advanced, 263 shares declined, and 198 shares are unchanged on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Suzlon Energy gained 8 percent in opening trade as the turbine maker sold its German arm Senvion for euro 1 billion to to US-based PE Centerbridge Partners for debt reduction. However, the stock could not sustain the upside.
Sesa Sterlite topped the buying list, up nearly 3 percent after the company received approval for renewal of all mining leases in Goa. It expects to resume mining in near future after regulatory nods.
ITC, Infosys, ONGC, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Auto, Hero Motocorp, Cipla and Tata Steel gained 0.7-1.3 percent. However, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel and NTPC fell 0.4-1 percent on profit taking.
The Indian rupee opened with marginal gains of 4 paise at 61.60 per dollar today versus 61.64 Wednesday.

Live Evening Updates on Stock Market



The market managed to hold on to its gains till the end, supported by capital goods and pharma stocks. The Sensex ended up 140.12 points at 28262.01 and the Nifty was up 36.90 points at 8550.70. About 1670 shares advanced, 1304 shares declined and 296 shares were unchanged.
 Wipro was up 5 percent, followed by GAIL, BHEL, Axis Bank and Bharti Airtel. HUL lost 5 percent after it showed dismal volume growth in Q3. Hero, TCS , HDFC and SBI were other laggards in the Sensex.
