Sensex falls 661 pts post RBI policy, monsoon forecast cut

Equity benchmarks shed more than 2 percent after teh Reserve Bank of India raised inflation forecast for January 2016 and Met Department cut monsoon forecast.The Sensex was down 660.61 points or 2.37 percent at 27188.38, and the Nifty fell 196.95 points or 2.34 percent to 8236.45.

About 828 shares have advanced, 1860 shares declined, and 145 shares are unchanged.

State Bank of India, Axis Bank, Hindalco Industries, ITC, Hero Motocorp and IndusInd Bank topped the selling list on Nifty, down 4 percent. Lupin and Bharti Airtel bucked the trend, up marginally.

Stock Market Closing Bell

Sensex ends 112 pts down, Nifty below 8350; BHEL jumps 5%
The market ended at lower levels. The Sensex was down 112.47 points or 0.4 percent at 27531.41 and the Nifty was down 30.90 points or 0.4 percent at 8339.35. About 1176 shares have advanced, 1482 shares declined, and 175 shares are unchanged. 

 After beating estimates by its March quarter results, BHEL ended with 5 percent gains. Coal India, Hero MotoCorp, Maruti and Bajaj Auto are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers are ONGC, Vedanta, Tata Motors, NTPC and Reliance.

Stock Market Close with 363 point up

Sensex gains 363pts, Nifty ends above 8350; DRL, HDFC surge
Driven by late upsurge, the market ended with handsome gains. The Sensex was up 363.30 points or 1.3 percent at 27687.30 and the Nifty closed up 111.30 points or 1.3 percent at 8373.65. About 1668 shares advanced, 1052 shares declined, and 173 shares were unchanged. Oil stocks gained most on fuel price hike over the weekend. Banks, infra, pharma and FMCG stocks were up. Dr Reddy's Labs, Tata Power, GAIL, HDFC and Bajaj Auto were top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers were Coal India, Hero Motocorp, NTPC, Tata Steel and Tata Motors.

Sensex up over 300 pts, Nifty reclaims 8200; banks support

The Sensex is at 27,189.31 up 322 points or 1.1 percent  while the Nifty is up 94.20 points or 1.1 percent at 8221.15. GAIL, Hero Motocorp, ICICI Bank, HDFC and M&M are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers are Hindalco, Vedanta and NTPC.
About 313 shares have advanced, 63 shares declined, and 71 shares are unchanged. Axis Bank, BHEL, Wipro, ICICI Bank and Tata Steel are top gainers in the Sensex. Hindalco falls 2 percent. The Indian rupee opened flat at 64.17 per dollar against previous day close of  64.17. The dollar index dipped below 95 marks.

Sensex ends up 505 pts, Nifty ends at 8191; autos surge

After a stellar rally, the Sensex ended up 506.28 points or 1.9 percent at 27105.39. The Nifty was up 134.20 points or 1.7 percent at 8191.50.  About 1865 shares have advanced, 835 shares declined, and 169 shares are unchanged.

Tata Motors, Cipla, ICICI Bank, Hindalco and HUL were top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers were Hero MotoCorp, ONGC, TCS, NTPC and Vedanta.
