Stock Market opens with positive note

Sensex, Nifty open firm; Wipro falls, Asian Paints gains 2%

The market has kick-started the week on a positive note. The Sensex is up 79.82 points or at 27403.82 and the Nifty is up 22.90 points at 8285.25. About 384 shares have advanced, 121 shares declined, and 76 shares are unchanged.

 Hindalco, ONGC, Cipla, GAIL and Hero are top gainers while HUL, Wipro and HDFC are major losers. Asian Paints is up around 2 percent ahead of announcing its March quarter earnings today.

The Indian rupee opened with marginal gains of 6 paise at 63.45 per dollar on Monday versus 63.51 Friday.

Sensex gains 402pts, Nifty ends at 8325; SBI, Vedanta up 5%

Bulls ended the day with a bang. The Sensex ended up 401.91 points or 1.5 percent at 27507.30 and the Nifty was up 133.75 points or 1.6 percent at 8325.25. About 1744 shares advanced, 989 shares declined and 152 shares were unchanged. 

SBI and Vedanta were up over 5 percent while Hero, Tata Motors and Tata Steel were lead gainers while HUL, ITC, Wipro and Bharti Airtel were losers in the Sensex.

Stock Market Opening Strong after 3 Days Loss

The market has opened on strong note after falling sharply for last few days. The Sensex is up 236.40 points or 0.9 percent at 26835.51 and the Nifty is up 68.05 points or 0.8 percent at 8125.35.

 The market is in high spirits as the Sensex is up 334.01 points or 1.3 percent at 26933.12. The Nifty is up 98.05 points or 1.2 percent at 8155.35. 

 About 1007 shares have advanced, 175 shares declined, and 82 shares are unchanged. ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, Tata Power, Cipla and Maruti Suzuki are top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers are Hero, Vedanta, GAIL and Bajaj Auto.

After a volatile session, the market has ended with handsome gains with major support by banks and capital goods stocks. The Sensex ended up 214.09 points or 0.8 percent at 27890.13, and the Day was up 51.95 points or 0.6 percent at 8429.70. About 1379 shares have advanced, 1379 shares declined, and 180 shares are unchanged.

Even after a weak monsoon forecast, HUL gained 4 percent. Other top gainers in the Sensex were Axis Bank, L&T, Hero and Dr Reddy's Labs. Wipro lost 6 percent post poor Q1FY16 guidance. ONGC, SBI, Hindalco and Infosys also slipped.
