Indian Stock Market Closing Bell

The market ended on higher note. The Sensex closed up 153.95 points or 0.6 percent at 27395.73, and the Nifty was up 45.60 points at 8246.30. About 1616 shares have advanced, 1312 shares declined, and 117 shares are unchanged.

 Metal stocks ruled the roost with Sesa Sterlite, Hindalco and Coal India gaining 2-4 percent each. Other gainers in the Sensex were Tata Motors and Hero Motocorp.

Bharti Airtel fell  over 1 percent while banks in red with some marginal loss. ICICI Bank and SBI were down 0.2-0.6 percent.

The market ended December F&O series expiry with some heavy losses. The Nifty was down 92.90 points or 1 percent at 8174.10. The Sensex sunk 297.85 points or 1 percent at 27208.61. About 1364 shares have advanced, 1473 shares declined, and 108 shares are unchanged.

Stock Trading Tips –Sensex, Nifty Edge Higher

The BSE Sensex and Nifty traded flat on Wednesday as traders remained cautious due to expiry of derivative contracts for the month of December. The Sensex gained as much as 60 points to a day high of 27,560, while the Nifty made a high of 8,282.
Analysts say markets will remain volatile because of expiry today. Till Tuesday, market-wide rollover has been 59 per cent against three months average of 62 per cent, according to the National Stock Exchange data. Lower rollovers are a sign of caution

The Indian rupee slipped in the early trade on Wednesday. It has opened lower by 15 paise at 63.43 per dollar against 63.28 a dollar Tuesday.The range for the USD-INR is seen between 63.12-63.55/dollar.
