The market ended on a dismal note as the Sensex was down 245.40 points or 0.9 percent at 26523.09. The Nifty slipped 70.55 points or 0.9 percent at 8044.15. About 788 shares advanced, 1850 shares declined, and 176 shares were unchanged. ADVERTISING Tata Power, Bajaj Auto, Axis Bank, M&M and TCS were top gainers while Vedanta, Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, Reliance and Hero MotoCorp were laggards in the Sensex.

Sensex, Nifty end flat; Hero gains 2%, HDFC falls 2%
After volatility seeping in the market in last hour of trade, the market ended lower. The Sensex was down 41.77 points at 27645.53 and the Nifty was down 8 points or 0.1 percent at 8365.65. About 1443 shares advanced, 1303 shares declined, and 159 shares were unchanged.

 Hero MotoCorp and Wipro were up 2 percent while Vedanta, Infosys and Tata Steel were top gainers. On the losing, HDFC, Tata Motors, ONGC, Bajaj Auto and HUL.
